Q: How can I calculate what year vehicle will become exempt from Smog Check in CA?
A: 1975 model year vehicles are now exempt from Smog Check because they have turned 30 years old. Under current law, a 1975 model year vehicle is exempt in 2004, a 1976 in 2005, etc. An easy way to calcutate this...take the current year and subtract 29 and that year is exempt from smog checks in CA. THIS IS NO LONGER TRUE... YOUR BEST FRIEND THE GOV. OF CALIFORNIA SIGNED A BILL THAT MAKE ALL CARS 75 AND BACK SMOG EXEMPT AND 76 AND NEWER WILL ALWAYS NEED SMOG... I'M PISSED... HE COULD HAVE AT LEAST WAITED UNTIL 1978 SO ALL THE EARLY TYPE Z'S WOULD BE EXEMPT. check it out...im thinking.. why is it ok for bird irritating sound people to need to make normal people to be tortured and made to feel like the irritation is the proper punishment for the normal people...
